Strange, Scary Creature Washes Ashore After Hurricane Harvey

Over 9 million species of plants and animals live in the ocean, but humans have only identified just 1 million of them, so after a hurricane comes through, you never know what kind of flora or fauna from the sea it might leave behind.

It turns out, something very strange remained on a Texas beach after Hurricane Harvey came through.

Photos of the scary-looking, sharp-toothed creature were tweeted out with a plea to biologists to explain what it is.

An eel specialist responded and is pretty sure it's a fangtooth snake-eel, but could also be a garden or conger eel. It's better than the alternatives:

Time to think twice before you take a dip in the ocean.
