Carried Underwood is being sued over the “Sunday Night Football” theme song by singer Heidi Merrill.
Merrill says that Underwood stole her song “Game On” that she wrote in 2016 and published to Youtube in 2017.
In court documents Merrill says she “met Carrie Underwood's producer, Mark Bright, at an event in Nashville in August 2017 and asked if Carrie would be looking to create a new song for the 2018 NFL "Sunday Night Football" show open.”
She claims she submitted the song, but was told that they would pass on it.
Merrill says the song is "substantially -- even strikingly --similar, if not identical" to her version of “Game On” and she is suing Carrie, Mark Bright, NBC, the NFL and more for copyright infringement.
