More Americans Than Ever Say Social Media Is Raising Their Stress Levels

A study has found that more Americans than ever are confessing that social media is driving them insane, especially with the current political climate.

There are 43 percent of Americans say they are checking their e-mails, texts, or social media accounts constantly.

People who check social media pages more frequently see the highest stress levels.

“Constant checkers” reported a stress level of “6” on a 10-point scale.

“Frequent checkers” reported an average stress level of 5.3.

For the rest of Americans, the average level is a 4.4.

Social media is more popular than ever, with a whopping 90 percent of those in the 18-29 age range using social media.

That’s up from a mere 12 percent in 2005.

About 65 percent of Americans of any age are on social media, up from seven percent in 2005.
