Amy Schumer Exits Live-Action Barbie Movie

Amy Schumer has dropped out of Sony’s planned live-action movie based on Mattel's Barbie doll.

“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” the actress says in a statement to Variety.

“The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”

Sony also shared their own statement, telling the outlet, “We respect and support Amy’s decision and we look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”

As previously reported, the Barbie movie is said to be in the vein of Enchanted and will find the main character getting kicked out of Barbieland and landing in a real-world adventure.

Schumer will next be on the big screen in the mother-daughter comedy Snatched along with a war drama Thank You for Your Service and she just joined the cast of She Came to Me!

No wonder she had to back out of the Barbie movie!
