After a stellar first season and an underwhelming second one, True Detective may get a third season yet.
EW reports that show creator Nic Pizzolatto has written at least two episodes for a potential third installment of the HBO bizarro drama.
Emmy-winning producer and writer David Milch, whose resume includes NYPD Blue and Deadwood, is also collaborating with Pizzolatto in some capacity.
The fate of True Detective has been unclear since its second season wrapped up in 2015.
In July 2016, HBO programming head Casey Bloys said, "Both Nic and HBO are open to another season...It's a valuable franchise, it's not dead, we just don't have a take for a third season yet."
