Jimmy Kimmel got personal Monday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” opening up about complications following the birth of his son 10 days ago.
Kimmel broke down as he described how his newborn son, William “Billy” Kimmel, was born with a heart defect.
At three days old, Billy had successful open heart surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and is now home with his family.
Kimmel encouraged donations to the hospital at: chla.org/donate.Kimmel and his wife, co-head writer Molly McNearney, also have a 2-year-old daughter, Jane.
Kimmel will now be on paternity leave for the rest of the week while his friends guest-host the show in his absence (assuming there isn’t a writers strike, in which case the show will go dark).
