ABC is now trying to inquire the rights to “American Idol.”
Sources say ABC contacted Fremantle (which is the company that produces the show) last week and made the bid.
The sources say the network wanted to reboot the show for a March 2018 premiere.
ABC also inquired about making Ryan Seacrest the host, even though he was just named the co-host of “Live” with Kelly Ripa.
ABC asked if the show could be shot in New York City which is now Ryan's home base, but the sources say Fremantle made it clear that the show will be shot in Los Angeles.
