Netflix Original '13 Reasons Why' Is Officially Renewed For A Second Season

Netflix's new series, "13 Reasons Why", has been renewed for a second season.

The show has attracted controversy because it centers on the suicide of a teenager.Season 2 was announced via Twitter by the official account for 13 Reasons, and was retweeted by the account for Netflix US. There are no details yet on the new season's premiere date.

The story is about Hannah Baker, who has left behind cassette tapes explaining 13 reasons why she took her life.

Season 1 had 13 episodes and was executive produced by Selena Gomez, who said last week that "maybe" there would be another season of the series.

Psychologists, educators and parents have widely criticized the show for its potential to be interpreted as glamorizing suicide.

The concerns have prompted Netflix to add warnings to episodes.
