Prada created a sterling silver “paperclip-shaped” money clip, which Barney’s is selling for $185.
The clip is about 6 centimeters long and 2 centimeters wide, making it cost over $13 per square centimeter.
People on Twitter were less than impressed.
One person tweeted, “$185 for a paperclip? This thing better be able to hold my life together.”
Another person suggested that the clip is really only useful if you regularly carry at least $186 in cash.
Another Twitter user noted, “By the time I buy the paperclip, there won’t be enough for it to hold.”
If your need to treat yourself is limited by your budget, Barney’s sells two types for $150.
If you’re still planning to blow your paycheck on the clip, don’t fret. “Prada” is engraved on one side, so no one will mistake the $185 investment for its one-cent counterpart.
