Jay-Z got candid about his relationship with Beyoncé in an 11-minute short film released Monday that serves as an addendum to his album 4:44.
"I just ran into this place and we built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn’t totally built on the 100 percent truth and it starts cracking," he admits. "Things start happening that the public can see. Then we had to get to a point of ‘Okay, tear this down and let’s start from the beginning...It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done."
He also opens up about swallowing his pride and begging Beyonce to stay by his side after realizing just how much he loved her.
“I was on a boat and she was like Man I don’t even feel like this. What is happening to my body right now? And I was like “Don’t Go.” I was like ‘Did I just say?’ All this is new to me. Like “Don’t leave.” He later adds, "We just got to the place that in order for this to work, it can't be fake—not once. I'm not saying it wasn't uncomfortable because obviously it was."
