Michael Phelps helped kick off the Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week on Sunday with a race against a shark.
The 23-time Olympic gold medalist finally met his match and lost the 'simulated race.'The 100-meter open water "race" took place in Cape Town, South Africa. Phelps lost the SIMULATED race to a great white shark by 2 seconds.
But Michael Phelps actually was not swimming in the water alongside the shark. Instead, data on the sharks' top swimming speed was collected as producers used CGI to simulate a shark swimming in the water side-by-side by Phelps.
This left many viewers disappointed as they hit Twitter to share their reactions.
