The New York Times took to Twitter on Tuesday to share its innovative take on brussels sprouts for the holidays.
"Your new favorite Thanksgiving appetizer: brussels sprouts sliders," the publication tweeted on Tuesday. The dish uses the brussels sprouts as "buns" and has tempeh in the center in place of meat.
Readers, however, were unimpressed by the idea and began mocking NYT over the recipe. "I would rather eat my own fingers," one tweeted. Another joked, "Think this was supposed to be a DM."
Many also brought up the time that the newspaper promoted a recipe that incorporated peas into guacamole. "First it was peas in my guac, now it’s brussels sprouts to replace buns? Is nothing sacred?" one complained.
