Ryan Reynolds has signed on to star in Legendary’ Entertainment's live-action Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds will plays the titular character in the film--which tells the tale of a teen whose father is kidnapped, leading him to link up with Pikachu in order to uncover the mystery behind his disappearance.
The pair is later joined by a spunky journalist who helps them on their mission. The project is being helmed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman and will also feature Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star Justice Smith and Big Little Lies actress Kathryn Newton.
Reynolds’ role is said to be motion-capture in nature. A release date has yet to be revealed.
