The Kardashians Are Hiring Unpaid Interns And It Might Be Illegal

Are you ready to Keep Up With The Latest Kardashian Kontroversy? The Kardashians are coming under fire after a job posting for an unpaid internship at Jenner Communications went viral on reddit. The internship includes menial tasks and responsibilities, such as "errands" and "gift wrapping," which doesn't sound educational at all. Add that on top of the fact that it's unpaid and this position seems pretty unethical.

To make matters worse, this isn't the only unpaid position Jenner Communications is advertising. They're also looking for a "runner," which entails other menial tasks like "grocery shopping" and "helping with dog." Yikes!

There's been a lot of controversy surrounding unpaid internships in general over the past few years, which has resulted in a number of lawsuits against companies, as well as updated laws from the Department of Labor. According to these new rules, the Kardashians might actually be breaking the law with these unpaid positions. Of the seven factors that make unpaid internships legal, the Jenner Communications  job listing violates at least four of them. Here's a screenshot from the Department of Labor:

The unpaid internship positions have also gotten unfavorable reviews from former interns, as well. One former intern wrote "don't call this an internship. Classifying an unpaid internship is illegal as the position is not educational and you are doing the same work as actual assistants."

Another former intern said the company is "very disorganized" and that the "other people who worked there were not very nice and were snobby."

Working for mega-famous celebrities might seem like a cool internship, but getting paid for your work and actually learning something-especially if it is an unpaid position and for school credit-is way more important.
