Kelly Clarkson Covers Brandi Carlile's 'The Joke!'

Kelly Clarkson is keeping her fans on their toes with another amazing 'Minute and a Glass of Wine' cover performance at her Meaning of Life Tour. On Thursday night (Feb. 21) Clarkson covered GRAMMYs winning artist Brandi Carlile's "The Joke" live on her Facebook page from Detroit's Little Caesars Arena.

Every night on tour, the "Stronger" singer broadcasts a performance live on social media featuring a cover or guest performance from a celebrity friend in a segment she calls 'Minute and a Glass of Wine." Kelly shared to the crowd on this particular night, that she's been a fan and covering Brandi's music for years. Inspired by her knock-out GRAMMYs award performance of 'The Joke,' she decided to sing it live for viewers.

I love Brandi Carlile man, If you get a chance to see her live it is amazing. Like she’s so inspiring and just talented and just a really rad human. But anyway she had this big performance at the GRAMMYs recently and I was so excited for her because it couldn’t have happened to a cooler human being and a more talented one at that. So I’m gonna sing this song she did on the GRAMMYs cause I know y’all might know that one. But literally check out her catalog, I’ve covered her for years like she’s an insanely talent artist - but this is called ‘The Joke.’

The "Breakaway" artist has been making headlines since kicking off her tour the past January. In a recent interview Clarkson opened up about her difficulty performing "Piece By Piece" as her father has since passed away and the song was inspired by her estranged relationship with him.

So like from the moment I wrote it, just being pregnant with my little girl and then you know all the moments that I really did try and make it work with my father and life and just get completely let down to where... You know he passed away months ago. So that's that's why.

Kelly also performed a highly lauded cover of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's 'Shallow' from the film 'A Star Is Born.'
