Sophie Turner Wants To Join 'Lizzie McGuire' Revival On Disney+

26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Sophie Turner became a household name thanks to her star turn as Sansa Stark on the long-running TV series Game of Thrones. While the 23-year-old actress wasn't keen to join another series after Thrones wrapped last year, it seems like she many changed her tune. Turner took to Instagram Stories to share her desire to join the cast of the Lizzie McGuire revival on Disney+.

When Disney+ first launched, Turner shared she was rewatching the iconic Disney Channel series. That rewatch apparently inspired the actress to shoot her shot on Instagram and pitch herself as "the new Miranda." In a selfie video shared on Monday (January 20), Turner asked "Is Miranda appearing in this season? Because I’m here. I’m available. I am your new Miranda.” She then added: “Lizzie McGuire people, please reach out to me.”

Fans were quick to remind Turner that production on the upcoming Disney+ series has temporarily halted due to creative mix ups behind the scenes. Turner told fans she was "obviously devastated" by the news, but she's not giving up hope of one day joining the Lizzie McGuire cast.

A Disney spokesperson addressed the behind-the-scenes drama that left production Lizzie McGuire temporarily shut down. “Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the series.”

Original Lizzie McGuire series creator Terri Minsky exited her post as showrunner, however, a new showrunner has not yet been named. Disney has not yet announced when the series will continue production, either .
