Riverdale star KJ Apa fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his car in Vancouver, Canada, following a 16-hour work day last week.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 20-year-old's vehicle struck a light pole and was inoperable following the crash.
Apa was hospitalized for observation and later discharged without serious injuries.
However, the crash has since ignited concerns about safety on the Riverdale set. The Warner Bros.-produced show allegedly requires its cast to shoot until early morning hours on a regular basis and does not provide them with transportation.
The Screen Actors Guild is now investigating the case.
"We are sending a team to Vancouver to review the circumstances surrounding safety issues affecting performers on this production," a spokesperson tells Entertainment Tonight.
