The mother of the young H&M model who wore the controversial hoodie deemed to be racist has weighed in on the outrage, telling people who are angry to “get over it” and to “stop crying wolf all the time.”
Terry Mango, who lives in Stockholm, Sweden, took to Facebook and noted she was present at the photo shoot, and the hoodie is “one of hundreds of outfits” her son has modeled.
After commenters expressed surprise at her remarks, she added that “everyone is entitled to their opinion about this" but she personally “really [doesn’t] understand” the outrage, “not 'cause am choosing not to, but because it's not my way of thinking.”
H&M has received massive backlash for the ad, which featured the boy, who is black, wearing a hoodie with the slogan, “Coolest monkey in the jungle.”
