The 2018 BET Awards opened on Sunday night with a tribute to Black Panther.
As Jay Rock performed his hit song “Win,” host Jamie Foxx presented Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan with a stuffed panther toy and persuaded him to recite a line from the film--which later won the Best Movie trophy.
Foxx then proceeded to walk through the crowd greeting other artists--including Childish Gambino and LL Cool J.
The night also saw Kendrick Lamar winning Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Album of the Year for DAMN.
While DJ Khaled led the nominations with six, he took home only one award: Best Collaboration for “Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller.
Nicki Minaj was among the nights performers and performed a medley of “Chun Li” and “Rich Sex.”
