Meghan Markle broke royal protocol when she crossed her legs at the Young Leader Awards at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Fans of the royal family were quick to notice the faux pas when a photo surfaced of Markle sitting alongside Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth II.
People reports that according to proper etiquette, royal women must keep their legs and knees together, although crossing at the ankle is fine.
"It’s sophisticated, protects vulnerabilities and looks fabulous in photos," explains royal etiquette expert Myka Meier.
A thread: Royals with their legs crossed. Seeing as you all have an issue at Meghan doing it, how about you all take a look at these. Bet you don’t have an issue with Diana doing it. #DuchessofSussex #MeghanMarkle #PrincessDiana pic.twitter.com/BABtC3hANG— Mollie (@mxlliiee) June 26, 2018

Honestly the people who are criticising every tiny detail of Meghan Markle's behaviour for not being the 'royal way' need to get a bloody grip. As if you're actually offended by someone crossing their legs - absolute saddos 😂— Katie Burns (@KatieIsabella92) June 27, 2018
