Ed Sheeran Sued For Copying Marvin Gaye Hit

Ed Sheeran is facing a $100 million lawsuit over allegedly copying parts of his hit song "Thinking Out Loud."

According to Reuters, the lawsuit claims Sheeran's song copies large portions of Marvin Gaye's classic song "Let's Get It On."

The suit was filed Thursday in Manhattan federal court by a David Pullman company. Pullman was the creator of the pioneering "Bowie Bonds," which allowed musicians to sell bonds backed by royalties from their catalog.

The suit claims Sheeran's 2015 hit copies "melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bass line, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping" of Gaye's song.

Sheeran's reps did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
