Alex Rodriguez Reveals Why His Relationship With J-Lo Works

Alex Rodriguez says his relationship with Jennifer Lopez would have failed if they got together when they were younger.

“To be honest, if this happened when we were in our twenties, it would have never happened,” Rodriguez said on TODAY Wednesday.

“…It was just too much craziness. I wasn’t mature enough. You know, boys, we got to get our dumbness out of the way.” A-Rod went on to explain why he and J-Lo make a good match.

“We’re in our 40s. We’re both from New York. We both come from Latino backgrounds,” he continued.

“We both have two kids. I think we’ve both been through a lot and can really appreciate each other--both the good and the challenges.”

DC is awesome! Such a thrill to see 73 of the greatest players in the world in the All-Star Game tonight. I’m excited by the new talent in the game and all of the young stars. This year’s #midsummerclassic features 30 first-time All-Stars, 29 players age 27 or younger, and 23 foreign-born stars. So great for the game. @MLB @FS1 📷: @egt239

Today has an entirely different meaning to me than I did when I first became a father to Tashi and then my Ella Bella. It’s an incredible responsibility, and one I have always treasured. But as I grow older and proudly watch them doing the same, not only are my kids my pride and joy and number one priority - now they also motivate me. Every day, Tashi and Ella make me a better dad and a better person. Being a father is the greatest job in the world, more than any career I could have dreamed of as a kid. To all the fathers out there, never stop trying to be the best. I don’t. #HappyFathersDay
