Ariana Grande broke down in tears after performing of one of Aretha Franklin’s songs on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Thursday.
Ariana was planning on only taking part in a comedy skit during her appearance on “The Tonight Show,” but she was asked to perform an Aretha song to pay tribute to the “Queen of Soul.”
At first, Ariana was reluctant and told producers she was too emotional to perform, as Aretha was one of her biggest heroes. However, she later changed her mind after Questlove convinced her to sing with The Roots.
Ariana belted out Aretha’s hit song “Natural Woman” at the beginning of the show and got a standing ovation, but when she exited the stage she broke down in tears.
