In a new excerpt from her upcoming memoir This Will Only Hurt a Little, Busy Philipps claims that James Franco assaulted her on the set of Freaks and Geeks in 1999.
She says that a scene required her character to gently hit Franco in the chest during a conversation. Franco was caught off guard and allegedly broke character to attack Philipps.
"He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, 'DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!'" Philipps writes. "And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me."
She goes on to call the actor a "f**king bully," and says he apologized to her the next day, but was never punished for his behavior. Philipps previously discussed Franco's behavior during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
When asked about the most difficult celebrity she's ever worked with, she replied, "James Franco...When we were 19, we were on Freaks and Geeks and we really, really disliked each other. It’s well-documented. He, like, shoved me to the ground once. It was really brutal. But we’re friends now and we really like each other now as adults."
