Sylvester Stallone Says He's Done Playing Rocky Balboa

Say it ain't so, Sly!

On Wednesday, Sylvester Stallone seemed to hint on Instagram that he's retiring the character of Rocky Balboa just as the franchise's latest film, Creed II, has debuted in theaters.

"This is probably my last rodeo," the 72-year-old actor says in a video shot during a beach bonfire with Creed IIcast and crew, including Michael B. Jordan.

“I thought Rocky was over in 2006 with the release of Rocky Balboa, and I was very happy with that. And then all of a sudden Jordan presented himself and the whole story changed. It went on to a new generation, new problems, new adventures."

He continued, "And I couldn’t be happier, because as I step back, because my story has been told, there’s a whole new world that is going to be opening up for the audience, for this generation."

Sly then thanked Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. and Jordan, telling the latter, "Now you have to carry the mantle.”
