Cardi B took to Instagram to try and explain herself on Tuesday, after video surfaced that shows her admitting to drugging and robbing men during her stripper days.
“I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world wit sic a perfect past I always speak my truth I always own my s**t,” the “I Like It” rapper wrote. “I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options…Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive.”
She also explained that the video in question was from three years ago and has “popped back up” and spread on social media thanks to the hashtag #SurvivingCardiB--a reference to R. Kelly’s documentary Surviving R. Kelly.
In the video, Cardi details the things she used to do to survive in her pre-fame days, saying, "I drugged n**gas up, and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do."
