UK Driving Instructor Claims Instagram Stole His "@SussexRoyal" Handle

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are already experiencing drama on Instagram after launching their own account on the platform just two days ago.

According to BBC News, a driving instructor from the English seaside town of Worthing claims "@SussexRoyal" was his Instagram handle until the company reassigned it to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex without telling him.

"I got a jokey text from my son which said, 'Ha ha, I see your handle has gone then,'" says 55-year-old Kevin Keiley. "I thought 'What's that all about?' He said, 'Look on Instagram,' so I looked on Instagram and suddenly my handle wasn't @sussexroyal anymore. It had been taken."

Keiley had chosen "@SussexRoyal" in honor of his home county of Sussex and his favorite soccer team, the Reading F.C. Royals. Keiley will apparently now go by "@_sussexroyal_" on the platform.

Meanwhile,The Washington Post notes that Harry and Meghan set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest Instagram account to reach one million followers, which they achieved in five hours and 45 minutes, beating the record of 11 hours and 36 minutes set in January by K-pop star Kang Daniel.
