Ahead of his appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Shawn Mendes dropped a new single and video, "If I Can' Have You."
The brisk, soulful pop song is driven by guitars, insistent beats, piano, and even a gospel choir, as well as deeply romantic lyrics that exude fondness for a significant other.
The accompanying "If I Can't Have You" video is moody and filmed in black and white, and features footage of the musician alternately performing and wallowing in his lovelorn feelings.
Mendes is the musical guest on SNL, while an alum of the show, Adam Sandler, is hosting.
