Miley Cyrus has released a downtrodden new song, "Slide Away," that seems to directly reference her marriage ending. "Once upon a time, it was paradise," Cyrus sings atop woozy trap beats.
"Once upon a time, I was paralyzed/I think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights/But it's time to let it go." At another point, she makes a darker insinuation, singing "I want my house in the hills. Don't want the whisky and pills."
The song later incorporates mournful piano and guitar accents, strings and dreamy production.
According to TMZ, it's not your imagination if "Slide Away" feels like it's alluding to her personal life: Two sources told the outlet that Cyrus did indeed take inspiration from her relationship breakdown for the song.
