Kim Kardashian West told Savanna Guthrie and Hoda Kotb that she understood the backlash to the Kimono name for her shapewear brand on Tuesday's episode ofTODAY.
"I'm so inspired by the Japanese culture. I didn't understand that it would have been offensive," she said. After the name was reported, Kardashian said she took the backlash to heart.
"I understood what people were saying and I would never want to intentionally disrespect a culture," she explained."I would never intentionally also hurt my brand and have that association."
Even though she had more than two million garments packaged and ready to ship, she asked fans for suggestions and decided to change the company name to Skims--a name she said "sounded right."
