Tom Holland Reached Out To Disney & Sony To Save "Spider-Man" Deal

Spider-Man saves the day! According toThe Hollywood Reporter, actor Tom Holland deserves the credit for Disney and Sony finally reaching a deal to co-produce another Spider-Man movie, weeks after they ended their partnership over financing disagreements.

"Holland made a surprise appearance at Disney's D23 Expo days after the Sony-Disney divorce," the outlet reports. "He earned big cheers by thanking fans for support and quoting Tony Stark: 'I love you 3,000.'"

That prompted fans to start lobbying for a new deal online with the hashtag "#SaveSpiderMan." After the expo wrapped on August 25, the 23-year-old Holland "began flexing his diplomacy...He leaned on Sony film chairman Tom Rothman to re-engage with Disney.

The actor was able to leverage his clout because he also is set to star in Sony's Uncharted. He also surprisingly reached out to Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger, beseeching one of Hollywood's most powerful executives to return to the table."

Holland's third Spider-Man movie is now scheduled to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
