A “Friends” reunion special is set to air on HBO Max in a matter of months — likely hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
Warner Bros. is completing paycheck negotiations with the show’s stars —Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer— after the cast rejected an initial $1 million offer.
The latest deal would give them each $2.25 million to $2.5 million, though Warner Bros. claims nothing has been finalized.
The special would feature reflective interviews with the cast, rather than a scripted episode similar to the original series, and is expected to coincide with the launch of the HBO Max streaming service this spring.
Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly high on the list of potential hosts.
