Miley Cyrus revealed in a new interview that she's stopped drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, Variety reports. The singer said she stopped when she was forced to have vocal surgery, but claims, “I’ve been sober sober for the past six months."
Cyrus had surgery to repair her vocal cords last November after a brief hospital stay, and then discovered in therapy how her parents’ upbringings may have affected her.
"My mom was adopted, and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the abandonment feelings and wanting to prove that you’re wanted and valuable,” she said. “My dad’s parents divorced when he was 3, so my dad raised himself. I did a lot of family history, which has a lot of addiction and mental health challenges.”
She also says therapy "is great," and helped her “understand the present and the future much more clearly.” She also said why she likes sobriety.
“The thing that I love about it is waking up 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. I don’t want to wake up feeling groggy. I want to wake up feeling ready.”
