In a recent interview, singer August Alsina claimed Will Smith "gave me his blessing" to have a years-long affair with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Entertainment Tonight reports that Alsina says he's lost money and friendships over rumors about he and Pinkett Smith, but "I never have done anything wrong."
Rumors of the Smiths' open marriage have existed for a while, and some whispered that Alsina's song "Nunya" was about Pinkett Smith, which he denies. But he said Smith knew about the relationship and was okay with it.
"Due to the transformation from their marriage to [a] life partnership that they spoke on several times, and not involving romanticism, he gave me his blessing," Alsina said. "I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life."
He went on to say, "walking away from it butchered me... I’m shakin' right now because it almost killed me. Not almost. It did."
The singer said he genuinely still loves both the Smiths. As for Will, he has said about Jada in the past, “There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever. Nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death and it feels so good to get to that space.”
